Spodly.com Product Licensing Policy
This policy governs the terms under which Users may utilize the digital products (Themes, Templates, Plugins, and Design Assets) purchased from Spodly.com. By purchasing any product, the User agrees to be bound by the licensing terms specific to that product.
1. General Licensing Framework
While many of our products are released under the GNU General Public License (GPL), the purchase price from Spodly.com covers the following essential rights:
- The original product file download access.
- Eligibility for product support and updates (as detailed in Section 3).
The type of license purchased determines how the product can be used in projects, especially concerning commercial use and redistribution.
2. Types of Licenses
Spodly.com primarily offers two types of licenses for its digital products:
A. The Standard License (Regular License)
The Standard License is designed for common usage, such as personal or client projects where the end-product is not sold to multiple users.
| Feature | Usage Right | Description |
| Number of Uses | One (1) End-Product | You may use the Item to create one single End-Product. This End-Product can be used by you or one client. |
| Commercial Use | Permitted | The single End-Product (e.g., website built with the theme) can be used for commercial purposes (to generate revenue). |
| Redistribution | Prohibited | You may not resell, redistribute, sub-license, or offer the product itself for free, even if modified. |
| Monetization | No charge to end-users | The End-Product must be free to access. You cannot charge end-users to access the final website built using the item. |
| Example | A single client website or your own business website. |
B. The Extended License
The Extended License grants the User permission to use the Item in a way that allows them to charge for the End-Product.
| Feature | Usage Right | Description |
| Number of Uses | One (1) End-Product | You may use the Item to create one single End-Product. |
| Resale/Monetization | Permitted | You may charge end-users to access the final website built using the Item (e.g., a SaaS application, a platform requiring paid subscription/membership). |
| Redistribution | Prohibited | You may not resell, redistribute, sub-license, or offer the product itself for free. |
| Example | A subscription-based service (SaaS), a web application where users pay a fee to access content or features. |
IMPORTANT NOTE ON GPL COMPONENTS: If a product is GPL, the GPL license grants you the right to modify and redistribute the code itself. However, the purchase price covers the licensing for other assets (e.g., proprietary images, CSS/JS frameworks, documentation) and, crucially, your right to receive Support and Updates from Spodly.com, which is strictly limited by the license type and the purchase agreement.
3. Support and Updates Policy
The right to receive Technical Support and Product Updates is directly tied to the validity of your license purchase and is subject to limitations.
- Eligibility: Support and updates are typically provided for a defined period (e.g., 6 months or 1 year) following the purchase date, unless a “Lifetime” support/update package was specifically purchased.
- Support Scope: Technical support typically covers bugs, errors, and assistance with product features as intended. It does not cover customization services, third-party software conflicts, or advanced coding assistance.
- Renewal: To continue receiving technical support and new product versions after the initial period expires, the User must purchase a Support and Updates Renewal.
- License Termination: If the license is terminated due to a breach of the Download and Fair Usage Policy, all rights to support and updates are immediately revoked.
4. Intellectual Property and Asset Licensing
- Product Authorship: Spodly.com and/or the original authors retain the copyright and intellectual property rights to the design, structure, and code of the Item.
- Included Assets: Items may include images, fonts, or assets that are subject to third-party licenses. The User is responsible for checking and complying with the licenses of all bundled assets.
- Proprietary Assets: Assets such as stock photos or graphics used in the demo version might be subject to separate licenses and may not be redistributed or used outside the context of the purchased product.
