FacetWP – Cache

FacetWP – Cache Add-on extends the functionality of the FacetWP WordPress filtering plugin by improving the speed of faceted search results. The addon stores frequently used filter requests in the database so the system can load filtered results faster on subsequent visits.

First, the addon caches FacetWP AJAX requests that occur when visitors apply filters on a page. Normally, the plugin calculates facet choices and filtered results every time a user selects a filter. However, the caching addon stores the result of these filter combinations in the database. As a result, when another visitor selects the same filter combination, the system retrieves the cached data instead of recalculating the results.

In addition, the FacetWP Cache Add-on improves performance on high-traffic pages where visitors frequently use the same filters. For example, landing pages, product catalogs, and directory listings often contain repeated filter selections. Therefore, caching these queries can significantly reduce server processing time and improve page responsiveness.

Furthermore, the addon works alongside other WordPress caching plugins. It only caches FacetWP-specific AJAX requests and does not interfere with general page caching systems. Because most caching plugins ignore AJAX requests, the addon fills this performance gap and optimizes filter interactions on dynamic pages.

Finally, administrators can adjust cache expiration settings depending on how frequently the website content changes. For example, sites with rarely updated content can use longer cache durations, while frequently updated sites may require shorter expiration times.
