WooCommerce – Brands is an extension that allowed store owners to create and manage product brands within WooCommerce. As a result, businesses could organize products by brand and improve navigation for customers browsing the store.

First, the extension introduced a dedicated “Brands” taxonomy similar to categories and tags. Store owners could assign a name, description, and image to each brand. Therefore, products could be grouped and displayed based on brand identity, making it easier for customers to explore related items.

In addition, the plugin enabled brand-based navigation and filtering. Customers could view products by specific brands, access brand archive pages, and identify brand details directly on product pages. This improved the browsing experience and helped users locate preferred brands more efficiently.

Moreover, the extension supported hierarchical brand structures. Store owners could create parent and child brands, which allowed better organization for large catalogs. At the same time, brand data integrated with WooCommerce product management, ensuring consistency across the store.

However, the standalone extension is no longer actively maintained. Its functionality has been integrated directly into WooCommerce core starting from version 9.6. Therefore, users can now manage brands without installing a separate plugin.
